I decided to look at MySpace for this blog assignment since I used MySpace for a summer in eleventh grade and haven't been to it since (stopped using it because Facebook was becoming popular). The first thing I noticed was the homepage and how it was very different from before (now more clear and simple looking). The page is mainly dark blue and what was interesting is how much it looks a lot like Facebook's homepage (with the color and font).
Since I no longer have (or can remember) my MySpace account, I clicked browse at the top of the page to find 15 profiles to view. What seemed strange was that the first 15 random profiles that came up were all females. Most of them were teenage girls, with a few older ones (but still under 30 years old). Not many people really had their real name (i.e. "Mz. Attitude" or "Daddy's Princess") and after using Facebook for a long time, I really didn't like the busy, unorganized, flashy, looking profile pages. People on MySpace seemed to be able to show more creativity with their pages, with things such as changing the font and background. After viewing 15 random profiles, I decided switching to Facebook was the right choice.
Yeah I think it is cool that MySpace allows for a little creativity. This is definitely one of the reasons that MySpace is still popular in the music world. I think the only friends I know that use it are the one's that are in Bands.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, i'm with you on the switching to facebook
