Blog 5: YouTube and Hulu

Recently, I went to YouTube in order to find a clip of the Coors Light's commercial featuring Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy's tirade aimed at a local reporter after an unflattering article criticizing Gundy's quarterback appeared in the paper. Once I found and watched the clip, which I need for a paper in another Communications class, I became distracted by the sidebar of similar videos. I wound up spending twenty minutes going through clips of Jim Mora's famous "playoffs" press conference and Herman Edwards' "You Play to Win the Game" speech. From Dennis Green's "They are who we thought they are" to the Gundy rant, YouTube was able to intuit what I was interested in viewing. I did not experience any advertisements with these videos (except, of course, from the product the commercials themselves attempted to promote), but I have come across ads on YouTube in the past, usually with music videos and Vevo, as another poster mentioned.

I had always been a huge fan of Fox's 24, but missed the last two seasons. I decided that I would search Hulu for the premiere of season 7 and perhaps re-spark my interest in the show. I've never used Hulu before; I can't stand watching TV on my computer screen. All I found when I searched for "24 season 7" was a myriad of "24: Inside Clips," all of which, from the title, I had a hard time understanding if they were supposed to be commentary or show highlights or what. I found Hulu to be very un-user friendly and wasn't inclined to spend a lot of time trying to find exactly what I was looking for.
