Hulu and YouTube

I typically think of YouTube as more of an amateur wesbite and Hulu to be more professional. In the past I have used YouTube to watch music videos or funny home videos that have gone viral and become widespread. For this assignment I decided to watch a clip from SNL on Hulu. I find Hulu to be harder to search through, but eventually I found the clip I wanted to. I should probably preface by saying I saw The Social Network last night which is what inspired my watching preferences today. On Hulu I watched the SNL short about moms joining Facebook. http://www.hulu.com/watch/184577/saturday-night-live-moms-on-facebook This was the original episode which was legally published. When I think of television shows on YouTube I usually think they are not authorized to be there. On YouTube I decided to look up interviews with Mark Zuckerberg because I had heard there was some controversy about the movie. I found an interview on ABC World News, Oprah, a PBS special, and a clip from "Our Time" which seemed the most amateur. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfTaAqmfS6A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTfzXyvqKN8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nopnrzl8MDM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v32AABzvCyc&NR=1
Like I said before, I feel like these news programs being on YouTube is not totally legal. Maybe that's true or maybe it's just a stereotype like we have talked about in class. YouTube is easier to search through, and it has millions of options when you type in keywords. Also, I like that when you complete a video it gives you suggestions of what to watch next. Hulu does that too, but in this case it gave me more SNL clips. They do not know that I want to watch about Facebook and not SNL, but because of the keywords I typed into YouTube it does. It know I didn't want more ABC News videos, but that I wanted more about Facebook and Zuckerberg.
