blog 7: Computerized Devices

I decided to track my activities from last night that involved computerized devices. My evening started around 630 when my friends came over for a holiday dinner. In order to communicate and tell everyone what time we would be ready I used my Blackberry to talk through blackberry messenger. While we were eating we sat around the living room and in front of the TV, which required me to use another computerized device: the DVR. With DVR we searched what was on our recorded list and choose a favorite movie, Elf. Through watching we used the remote a number of times to fast forward through commercials. After dinner I did not use computerized devices other than my Blackberry to communicate with friends about the plans for the night, for another few hours when after I was finished getting ready to go out at night I plugged my iPod into the speakers and played music. My night once again came to a break of computerized devices (other than the Blackberry) when I went to the bar until around 1:45 AM. Once again I found myself using the same computerized device, the DVR, to watch episodes of How I Met Your Mother with my friends.
Overall, I find myself very tied down to and dependent on computerized devices. On a night like last night where I was preoccupied and leaving my apartment I find that my dependency is a little lower besides communicating through my cell phone. I usually find myself on my computer looking up whatever random things come to mind, checking my mail and checking my facebook.
