Hulu and YouTube

I use hulu all the time. It helps me catch up on my favorite shows since I don't always have time during the week. I also watch youtube but only if people tell me to look at specific video. Both sites, I find videos that I was looking for. From those, I may stumble upon other videos to watch to. Like another classmate said, Hulu seems more professional and YouTube is more amateur. I also like watching Tv or movies on hulu better because, despite advertisements, you can watch it all at once (no series), no broken links, better quality, etc.

For this blog post I watched an episode of Gossip Girl on hulu and some youtube videos my friends made back in high school. That's another difference when it comes to professionalism and quality is that youtube is much more participatory, in that anyone can make a video, even if its from a cell phone camera, and post anything they want. Whereas Hulu is more about observation and just watching the shows. You can comment on some videos, "like it," that sort of thing but people don't really do that unless they are truly passionate about it. Also, on hulu you don't have to worry about finding the authentic or original version of a video, whereas YouTube you might have to scroll through pages and watch a few seconds of videos to see if they are the actual one. YouTube is a lot more flexible than Hulu, but at the expense of quality, professionalism and authenticity.
