History of the Internet

I use the internet on a constant basis, but as someone else mentioned I did not know its immense history until lecture and this video. It was easier to follow the information in lecture than in the video with pictures of old mainframes and such. Also, it is hard to remember all of the acronyms and where they originated and what they have turned into. I am still having a hard time especially understanding what TCP/IP protocol means exactly. The video calls it compatibility between networks, but that still does not clear up my confusion. Hopefully throughout the lectures to come and the semester as a whole I will become an expert on the roots of the internet. For now, I will keep reading and listening and hopefully grasp the concepts!
