History Of The Internet
The first thing that struck me was the level of involvement of other countries in the different vital parts of creating functional computer networking (ex: packet switching from England) as well as how different intentions of use for networking led to the creation of such functions. If networks were only every used for science, not military or commerce, it's interesting to think how different things may have turned out. I have to admit the middle part of the video was a little confusing when it came down to the protocols so I'm glad we went over that in class before we watched the video. Like many others have said, I liked the simplicity of the diagrams in the video given the complexity of creating something as massive as the internet. I'm still curious as to when other countries got involved and if other places have made any important contributions to the internet or computer networking as different uses for it arose. All in all, it was a very interesting video, the 8 minutes it took to watch it flew by!
