My practicum assignment is social network sites. So far I am on Twitter and 43 Things. Twitter is considered a microblog where each post is limited to 140 characters. You can post pictures, use the @ to tag someone in the post, send direct messages that are private and much more I haven't discovered yet I'm sure. I follow some friends and family as well as celebrities and news outlets. It is a great way to keep up with current events and the latest celebrity gossip. 43 things is a site where you can create a goal list. Some people have (what seem to be) reasonable goals about education, health and fitness, and career, and some have (once again, what seem to be) more whimsical goals about travel, romance, and outrageous things. So far I have 10 goals on my page, but I keep adding more. You can cheer other people on and keep track of the goals you've accomplished as well as having a personal biography and picture. I have not decided what my third site will be, but if anyone has suggestions please let me know.
You can follow me on twitter @abhahn and on 43 things at AllisonHahn

One social networking site you might want to look into is bebo (bebo.com). It's like a combination of Facebook, MySpace, and Blogger. You can add friends, have a comments space, upload photos, videos, music, and games. I think its popular for new artists (kind of like how bands can upload their music on MySpace) to share their music with other users. In your profile you can also have a section to create and maintain a blog where users can comment on your posts as if you were using Blogger or Blogspot. With uploading videos, music, etc. you can share with everyone on bebo, not just your friends, which is kind of a unique feature.
ReplyDeleteSo thats just a suggestion, something different. It may be interesting to compare with the other networking sites you are using.
