I am starting to delve into my practicum project. I'm doing specialized information sites. After talking with Danny a little bit more about it, I decided to look at a few different sites for different topics but both with specialized information where people can learn how to do something from each other by posting pictures, videos, and just discussion. So I chose three websites, one geared toward poker, another toward knitting, and the last one toward snowboarding. So far, a lot of these sites are very similar, which I guess I expected. I did notice though that the snowboarding website is a lot harder to learn from just because it is more of learning an action and how to move your body, something you really need to be strapped in and on the mountain to do. The other two websites though are a lot easier since they use certain styles, techniques, jargon, and tips that people can easily learn and share with each other through interaction. Especially on the knitting website, one woman posted a video of how to knit a certain stitch in response to a beginner's question. So right now, I am still exploring different sites and topics, I might switch to different websites if I find one better. I may also narrow it down from 3 information topics to 1 and maybe look at different sites and how they differ in teaching the same topic. It's all up in the air right now but I thought I would get started
