Practicum 2 - Mallory

Recently, while working on my practicum assignment on Second Life, I noticed a tool that I wish I noticed the first day playing this game. It is called the "Desintination Guide" and is hidden on the right hand side of the screen in the shape of a small hand-like image. The Destination Guide allows me to look up a bunch of popular destinations on Second Life and then teleport my avatar to these locations. The destinations are listed in categories such as adventure, art, haunted, beaches, business, castles, chat hot spots, sports, etc. After they are listed, there is a discription and picture of the location.

Navigating around Second Life was a lot more difficult before I noticed the Destination Guide. I would go to the map of the virutal world, and then click on a random spot (hoping it would be somewhere interesting like a night club).

  1. I was at work the other day and my boss told me that she's recently started playing Second Life and is fairly addicted earlier on. She was actually talking about all of the fantastic destinations that she visited, including some tropical beaches and malls. She said she spent a lot of time shopping and I thought that it was pretty coincidental given the topic of your post.
