Practicum -- Max

Here comes the first of two blog posts for max. For my first, I will describe my practicum project briefly. I am an intern for the UW Athletic Marketing Department. Over the past few years, social media has become a buzz word of sorts in athletics, as different schools are using social media in different ways. Everyone (including the social media companies themselves) is still learning how to best use this technology and what to restrict, etc. For example, now, all businesses must have business accounts, not personal accounts, on Facebook. With twitter, it is much more complicated because there are far less rules. If you can write it in 140 characters, you're free to say it. So, we are constantly trying to better our social media sites. I am the main contact for marketing and promotions for UW men's and women's soccer and as such I have the responsibility to do a lot of tweeting on our site. Hopefully, you'll learn some new information about our soccer teams, be able to follow their seasons, and come out to a game or two this season!
