Practicum 3

Throughout my search of how seniors use the Internet, I’ve been curious about online dating as a type of “senior community”. Since our presentation last week, I’ve been emailing a family friend about her online dating experiences. She has many interesting stories I’d love to share when we’re done with the interviews. In the mean time, I want to post the link to a blog I’ve been following closely.

Mille Garfield is 85 and has a fascinating blog where she posts about her life and how times have changed. In her latest post (Sunday) she posted quite a bit about online dating! She wrote about the evolution of dating and how it has changed over time. She talks about being a young girl and going to house parties to meet people. Alcohol free house parties! With each step in the evolution of dating, she posts a picture representative of that type of interaction. At the end, she addresses online dating. She mentions that she knows a few couples that have had success with online dating (and even found marriage).

I was interested to see this post, and I’m hoping to contact a few of the people who comment on her post. This should definitely help me track down a few more seniors to help with my research.
