For my Practicum project, I'm using the social bookmarking services Digg and Del.icio.us. I have a history using Digg, but I hadn't used it in years. Overall, I think that the Digg interface is easier to use just because it's organized in more clear categories. I also think it's easier to find news on this site because of how it's organized. For me, I like to use Digg in a similar way to how I use Twitter...this is largely for finding material on the Internet. I think it's cool that it's organized in a way that you can find articles by topic on Digg, regardless of who you follow. I usually start off by looking at entertainment, just because there are usually some interesting things. If nothing catches my eye on the entertainment page, I'll move to top news, or another category, depending on my mood.
Part of the reason I didn't engage with Digg too much in the past is because none of my friends really participate. For sites like this, although to a lesser degree than basic social networking sites like Facebook, having friends who engage on the site add a further element of participation that encourages use. However, the site did come in handy to keep track of interesting sites I found while my computer was being fixed and I was using a rental. This allowed me to keep track of these sites and return to them once I got my computer back.
As a fan of the Office, I figured I would share this site that I found on Digg and thought was interesting. Hope you enjoy! http://www.focus.com/fyi/human-resources/jim-and-pams-guide-office-romance/
