YouTube and Hulu

I have heard of Hulu many times before, but I have never used it. I usually watch television shows that I've missed on the station's website like www.cbs.com, for example. I decided to search Grey's Anatomy to see what came up and I was happy to see that I was given quite a few options. There were many different episodes I could watch and there was also a link to the www.abc.com as well. I decided to go way back to the beginning of the show and watch the first episode of the first season. I had never seen it before so it was fun to see how the characters were in the beginning. I thought that Hulu was easy to use and I didn't have too much trouble figuring out how to watch something on it. I also wasn't sure how advertisements worked on Hulu, but they seemed to work the same as if I was watching something on cbs.com. Instead of watching all the commercials people do in real time, you only have to watch a minute of advertisements. These shortened advertisements make it easier to watch a show because you don't have to commit a whole hour of your day to watch one television show. Overall, I enjoyed using Hulu and I will definitely use it again when I want to watch certain shows.

YouTube is something that I have used more than Hulu. I usually use it to watch music videos or other funny videos that my friends tell me to watch. Although I like watching music videos on YouTube, it can sometimes be hard to get the "official video." Because people can post their own videos, you have to weed out the videos you are not interested in. I wasn't sure what to watch on YouTube, but then I thought of the Budweiser/Bud Light commercials and I decided to watch a few of these. I was surprised to find out that it was not hard to get the official video for these. The first link I clicked on brought me to the "Swear Jar" commercial and then after I watched that, it gave me more options for other Bud commercials. One thing that I thought was ironic was that I sometimes had to watch an advertisement before I watched an advertisement. I understand why YouTube does this because they need to make money somehow! Overall, I think that even though YouTube is not always the most reliable form of media, it offers many opportunities to people all around the world.
