Chat Roulette

After reading the posts about i-Dosing, I chose to avoid it (especially given that I'm currently watching my beloved Jaguars in a dogfight against the Colts and don't need another source of head-pounding) and instead decided to look at ChatRoulette for this blog assignment. I've been on ChatRoulette in the past, but always with friends. It was a different experience doing it on my own. I didn't come across too many naked men this time, but mostly men that I would identify as being in an age range similar to my own. It was pretty uncomfortable to get matched up with a new person and not know what to say or what the general purpose of the conversation is supposed to be. It's hard to know what reasons the other person has for being on ChatRoulette. Are they bored and looking for conversation or new friends? Are they about to do something weird for entertainment purposes? Or are they about to whip out a part of their anatomy I don't particularly care to see? The majority of users appeared harmless: one guy just wanted to play his guitar for an audience and I wound up spending ten minutes helping another kid set his fantasy football lineup. Overall, my experience with ChatRoulette wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been, but it isn't necessarily a venue I would return to in order to enhance my Internet use.
