As it seems the definition of computerized is a bit uncertain in many posts, I'll start by including my "wake-up call" alarm on my cell phone. Although it's just a regular flip phone, no internet or special apps or anything, I rely on it just about every morning to get me out of bed. This morning I was really relying on it to wake me up bright and early (5:00am) so I could get to "work" on time. I put work in quotes because today after punching in to the time clock at the Kohl Center (computerized object #2) I was on my way up to the Packer Game with several co-workers to shadow the Fox Sports crew as they covered and aired the game. We used a GPS to get up to Green Bay and when we entered the media trucks I was completely surrounded by computerized things. While one truck was mostly analog tape and older televisions, there was still an abundance of laptops where people would enter stats and control graphics. The second truck was much more modern looking with flat screen TV's everywhere and the obligatory abundance of laptops. The only direct interaction a got to have with the plethora of computers and technology was to play around with the instant replay machine. After the game, returning to Madison, and punching out of the time clock, I ate dinner while watching a show on hulu on my laptop and have been camped out in the living room with my laptop (and both roommates also on their computers) with the TV on to the evening ravens/steelers football game.
Today was probably an above average day of computer inundation, however for work and school I'm bound up in the ability of technology to work, and work well. It's a bit of a scary thought but it's also kind of fun to have such technology at your fingertips everyday.
