practicum #1

For my practicum project I was assigned to do the personal homepage. Because of the popularity of blog, Facebook, and Twitter, people rarely create their personal homepage. I have no experience making a web site, so I used Jimdo.com to create my personal homepage, which doesn't require me to know any HTML things.

I named my homepage “Dress My Life”. As the name shows, I will introduce some of my favorite brands here. Different from some “traditional personal homepage”, I am not going to talk too much about myself. Instead, I will mainly focus on what kind of fashion I like, which I think is more interesting. Second, instead of writing a long paragraph, I prefer to use more pictures with short label. Third, I encourage viewer to participate in my page. For example, in “Hipster” page, I highly encourage viewer to tell me more “hipsters” they know so that I could put their pictures in my page if they want to. The hipster could be star, their friend, or themselves.

I divided my homepage into six sections: Home, About Me, Mode, Hipster, Wall, and Link. In “Home” page, there is an overview of “Dress My Life”. It will show what I have updated. In “About Me”, there is my profile. Actually, besides fashion, I also like lomo, travelling, etc. So I put some links on the left top side, which allows people to know more about me. “Mode” is the page which introduces the brand I like, and I present them country from country. People can view different hipster in “Hipster” page, leave message in “Wall” page, and check out more links in “Links” page.
