Practicum- Carla Pentimone
I believe blogging is one of the best examples for Web 2.0 that there is. Web 1.0 is pretty much just like watching a TV. There is stuff out for you to go look at, and you are not experiencing much interactivity. There are a small amount of people creating things online, and a large amount of people who consume. This was because websites were hard to update, internet access was took a long time to obtain with dial-up, and many believed you need specialized skills to input online. Blogging basically defines Web 2.0. It is easy to put yourself out there. All you do is type and upload. You don’t need to know HTML coding or any of the hard, technological stuff that I am quite afraid of. As with Web 2.0, blogging allows for convergence of many things such as viewing pictures, videos, and discourses, while at the same time communicating with others. One part of my participation that could be considered unique to Web 2.0 is that I am using one social networking site, Facebook, to connect to people in another SNS, Blogger, and I guess this could be considered unique because usually you are using the internet to go from physical to virtual, but through this means I am going virtual to virtual.
