Hulu vs. YouTube

The experiences of YouTube and Hulu are incredibly different. Upon visiting Hulu, you are immediately presented with high quality content that comes direct from the source. I was able to catch up on one of my favorite weekly shows "The League." The show had its own page in which I could find full episodes, clips, and recommendations based on my liking of "The League." Everything was presented in an orderly and clear fashion, and of course the video quality was excellent. However, the content is somewhat limited, and as I found out when searching the site, episodes and content can be held back due to release issues from the networks. The show I was watching is about 2 weeks behind in terms of the episodes they have posted. The beauty of YouTube is the vast amount of content, the problem is the vast amount of content in low quality. While clips and partial episodes are prevalent on YouTube, the quality isn't great and it is sometimes difficult to find everything you are looking for. I could sometimes find the beginning of an episode, but not find the end, or it would take me a great deal of searching. However, the broad content found on YouTube makes me use the two sites in two different ways. Hulu is great to find episodes and clips in great quality that you may have missed a while ago, but YouTube is great for finding things away from what has been on TV, i.e. concert footage, funny videos of friends, etc. I look at YouTube as more of a hit or miss grab bag in which you can find real gems, whereas Hulu is a great place when looking for one thing that has been on TV.
