Today I decided to explore more about Last.fm than just the listening to music part I have already been doing. I have not felt the sense of community, and I would not consider this a very useful social networking site. I use it like I use Pandora, but it does have more to offer. For example, when a song is playing you are given the artist, title of the song and the album it is from. If you scroll down you are shown about a dozen similar artists, websites about the artist and concert dates, other radio stations that are similar, and finally people can comment about the song. This is obviously where the connections can come in. It is more a message board though and you do not have to connect with anyone to be able to post. I suppose it is possible to find people with similar interest in music and talk individually to share ideas, but I do not see connections going much further than that.
