practicum 7

on the poker site, I have mostly been following tournaments, particularly one of my favorite poker players, Phil Hellmuth, who is actually a Madison native. On this site, in addition to poker strategy and tips, they talk about tournaments that anyone can enter and tournaments just for the professionals. I mentioned in a previous practicum post that the site promotes poker websites that people can play on for real money and enter contests to play with the pros. I have had an account with fulltiltpoker.com for years now, but I just started with pokerstars.net. I don't really care for that site too much but a big poker player, Phil Ivvy, is a sponsor for it and usually holds competitions with a prize of learning from him personally, so I thought I'd give it a try. I played in one of the tournament competitions, over 30,000 people signed up. A lot of people drop like flys so it doesnt get real competitive until you get down to about 5-10,000 people left. The top 10 winners fight for money and the prize of Ivvy, and the top 300 get money as well. After nearly 6 hours in this tournament, I came in 116th place. Lost with aces too. really bummed. But anyway the whole point of this post was to show that this site tells people where they can go to play poker and practice what they learn from the site (like I did in the previous posts). It also connects you with the poker world, letting you know of tournaments and how to connect with the pros, which I think is really fun to do.
