Computerized Devices Blog

This was probably a bad week to track my interactions with computerized objects. I have eight papers/exams within the next two weeks so I’ve been basically on my laptop all day. I am using my computer to go to websites and for word processing. I am also using my phone, which I assume is computerized. I’m studying near televisions although I’m not really watching right now. I assume modern TVs are computerized so I would include those. I also set my DVR to record some shows. DVRs are certainly computerized, and they’ve made it far easier to watch programs when convenient. This is one of my favorite computerized innovations in the past few decades. Unfortunately, aside from that, I’ve spent most of my day reading books and taking notes. I understand why we were assigned this blog. As a society, computers have become highly integrated into our culture. I think that what counts as “computerized” is a little ambiguous, which is perhaps because we’ve become so accustomed to computerized objects, we just take them for granted!

  1. I agree, i think the term "computerized" is ambiguous as well and that is definately a reason why we take things for granted. I found this idea particularly interesting when we discussed lights being computerized. I never thought that a light sensor was computerized. There is so much that we rely on to get through our daily routine that we don't realize is computerized. Part of this is a little sad, because we should HAVE to rely on computers to live our lives but some of it demonstrates the progress man kind has made to use our knowledge to create computers to make our lives easier. Its kind of a bitter sweet progression for man kind; one that demonstrates both our intense ingenuity and our utter laziness as human beings.
