Practicum - Alexa

For my last practicum post, I decided to reflect on my experiences with the project. I really liked using these new sites, and I was legitimately excited to try them. Unfortunately, as the project progressed, although I saw the value in these sites, I didn't find much bringing me back to them other than the obligation of the project. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I didn't feel the need to sift through the links on the site because I already use Twitter for a similar function. It was also hard to use two of these sites because then the value of bookmarking was spread, I couldn't remember what I'd added where, and I wound up just saving relevant sites to my favorite places on my computer. I think that the sites would have had a lot more value if I had friends using them. There wasn't a ton of incentive to check the sites because I didn't know who was posting or whether it would have any relevance to me. Adding strangers as friends wouldn't have resolved this, so I continued to wander the worlds of Digg and Delicious alone. Regardless, I definitely was able to see where there's value in the sites. I think that it's a great idea for sharing links with friends, or with a larger community. I really did like using these sites, but in the end I'm not sure that I'll continue using them with the completion of this project.
